Dr. John Flood received his medical degree from Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens, Ohio, where he was elected Student Council President. He went on to complete an orthopedic surgery residency at Doctors Hospital, Inc. of Stark County in Massillon, and was awarded the Resident Achievement Award by the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons. Dr. Flood was in active military service with the US Navy, serving as an orthopedic surgeon in US Naval Hospitals in Okinawa, Japan and Charleston, South Carolina, as well as director of resident education in Charleston. He achieved the rank of Lieutenant Commander and, after resigning, continued his medical education with advanced fellowship training in spinal surgery at Michigan State University in East Lansing.
Dr. Flood joined the practice in 1996. He is an assistant clinical professor at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, as well as an orthopedic consultant to the University’s Athletic Department. Dr. Flood is a Diplomate of the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgery, a Fellow of the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics and the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons, and an active member of other prestigious professional organizations. He is also an accomplished and frequent lecturer on advanced spinal care and surgery at conferences, medical centers, and medical schools across the country.
